Q&A with Pastor Chris - How Can I walk in God's Perfect Will?
Question: Dear Pastor, it is really a great privilege to be able to interact and ask you questions directly. Please sir, I need to know how to walk in God’s perfect will for my life.
Answer: The first thing you require is the knowledge of God’s Word. Without the knowledge of God’s Word, no one can really understand God’s perfect will. I’d like to read to you from verse 105, chapter 119 in the book of Psalms: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. [Psalm 119:105]” See, God’s Word gives you direction. God’s Word helps you to understand God’s perfect will. That’s why you need to know the Word of God. His Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path.
And then also, Galatians chapter 5 from verse 16, “This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. [Galatians 5:16]” Walk in the Spirit….now, walking in the Spirit actually means walking in the light of God’s Word. And so, no matter what your senses tell you, you’ll be able to discern what is God’s perfect will. See, God’s will for your life, a lot of times, can be different from what other signs tell you - from what your feelings would tell you and what other human beings would tell you. So, you need to know God’s Word and that’s the only way you can judge what the Spirit of God is telling you, because the Spirit will always tell you what God’s Word says; the Spirit bears witness with the Word.
And lastly, praying in tongues will be of immense benefit to you. If you pray in tongues consistently and continually, your spirit will be attuned to the Spirit of God. Your spirit will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and it’ll be easier to learn God’s will for your life, God’s direction for your life and to hear, in your spirit, the voice of God. So, praying in tongues continually will help you learn this. So remember, one is walking in the light of God’s word; and the second thing is through the Holy Spirit.
